Welcome to The Center for Endocrine Health
Endocrinology (from Greek ἔνδον, endon, "within"; κρῑνω, krīnō, "to separate"; and -λογία, -logia) is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the endocrine system and its specific secretions called hormones.
The Center for Endocrine Health is a new endocrinology practice, located in Santa Fe, New Mexico, serving the people of Northern New Mexico and surrounding areas. The resident endocrinologist is Alison Sawyer, MD, who is board certified in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. The center provides comprehensive specialty care, using current evidence based practices. We believe that successful healthcare is a collaborative effort between patient and physician. Endocrine disorders are often very complex and often have a significant effect on your quality of life. Diseases such as diabetes and high cholesterol are important to treat aggressively in order to reduce cardiovascular risk. Working in collaboration with you, we will diagnose, investigate possible causes and discuss the treatment options with you.
Restoring the body's hormonal balance often requires a multifaceted approach, involving not only medical therapies but changes in diet and lifestyle. We will work with you to guide and support you through this process. We will be working in collaboration with the exceptional diabetic educators and nutrionists at Christus St Vincent Regional Medical Center's Diabetes Center of Excellence. These educators lead by Paula Devitt are dedicated to prevention of diabetic complications through targeted diabetes treatments and lifestyle changes. We believe this collaboration will greatly benefit the communities of Northern New Mexico where diabetes has become a leading health concern.
